Peggy Bradley has a Masters degree in Civil Engineering. She works in the field of hydroponics and specializes in using the technology of growing plants to help humans reduce their impact on the earth. She has designed several experimental integrated systems using animals and plants in hydroponics culture.

Experience in advising existing and potential commercial growers on system design, crops and cultivars, nutrients and water analysis plus the day to day running of a hydroponic operation.
Assisted in establishing several simplified hydroponic projects in areas of poverty and hunger including the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Mexico, areas of poverty in the US and Israel.
Scientific research for growers, companies and manufacturers who require products or systems to be tested as well as an international consultancy service.
Author of books on simplified hydroponic culture, and over 18 magazine articles, both popular and scientific. Also produced videos and CDROMs on Urban Agriculture and hydroponics.

Selected projects in Commercial applications
1990 Designed a biosphere home for the Nevada region. Rising Sun uses solar energy to heat and power the home and raises its own food in a hydroponic greenhouse and enclosed fish pond. This was first designed home to use a composting toilet for part of the home heating.
1992 Designed a 16 by 24 greenhouse to produce adequate vegetables year round for a family of four in a temperate climate. Bivalvia plans now sold internatioanlly and available on CDROM.
1994 Designed Research Hydroponic Greenhouse for Africa University in Zimbabwe, also established the curriculum for a four year study program and participated in the growing protocols of organic hydroponic nutrients for local villages.
Chicken Coop for Natures Harmony a Japanese Natural Foods Distributor and
Dr. Matsu Matsumota, Animal Science Dept Oregon State University. This
project was nominated in 1996 for the Japanese National Science Award, a
half million dollar annual award.
1996 Oregon Museum of Science and Industry – A hydroponics lab for children in their new building in Portland Oregon. With funds from several donars established an internal lab for children using hydroponics and integrated hydroponics and fish culture. Remaining until 2000 this exhibit received about 500,000 visitors a year.
1996 Website http://www.carbon.org/ established and projects of the ISH were described on the website. This site now supports 14 projects worldwide and three country ISH centers.
1999 Hydroponic Homeless Shelter – designed in response to earthquake in Armenia Colombia where 50,000 people were left homeless. The design is online and used in several university courses as an example of integrated low technology.
2000 Scientific experiments with DuPont Corporation in germination and grow out properties of a commercial fiber designed for hydroponic culture
2001-2003 Established the International Institute of Simplified Hydroponics Training Center in Tehuacan, Puebla Mexico. A 256 square foot building was revitalized and 3000 m2 demonstration gardens established in the city. Funds of over $100,000 were raised for the project, educational tools were translated and printed into Spanish. Classes for students started from Mexico and Latin America.
